Frequently Asked Questions

• 2 Reusable cloth swim diapers with elastic that is tight around the legs and waist (We sell swim diapers at our front desk)
• Swim suit for the parent who will be getting in the water with baby
• A change of clothes for baby to change into after swimming and diapering needs
• A towel for the kiddo and a towel for the parent
• Bottle or feeding supplies, swimming can work up an appetite!
• A bag for wet clothes

We are offering limited free makeups during this time. You may use two makeups per month and they are not guaranteed. You are paying for your current day and time and makeups are a free courtesy we do for our JMSS families. Make-up lessons do not hold cash value and are non transferable. You may not use make-up lessons to pay for a perpetual class.

Yes; with the exception of swim team, we require a parent or guardian to stay on-site during the lesson. Your young swimmer wants to know you’re there for them and you will have a chance to observe what they are working on in class.

*Due to COVID-19 we have placed benches outside for parents to social distance and you may also remain in your car if your child is bathroom independent.

Our classes are ongoing and each child will remain enrolled until we receive a 30 day written cancellation notice. Your account will be billed on the 1st of each month as long as you are enrolled with us.

While we hate to see you go, we require that you notify JMSS thirty (30) days before you wish to withdraw. Cancellations must be received by filling out this cancellation form or in person at our front desk. Once payment has been taken to hold your class day and time we will not be able to issue any refunds.

Every swimmer under the age of 3 is required to wear two cloth, reusable swim diapers which can be purchased at JMSS even if they are FULLY potty trained. Any swimmer over the age of 3 who is not potty trained will be required to wear two reusable swim diapers.

• Group lessons, Flounders through Swim Team Seniors are $30 a lesson and you are billed for the number of lessons your student will receive in the calendar month
• Semi-privates Angelfish and Starfish are $38.50 a lesson
• A one time registration fee of $25 per family
• We offer a 15% multiple class and/or multiple child discount for perpetual enrollments
• We require a 30-day written notice to end your class. Drop us an email or let us know when you come in for lessons.

JMSS is closed on major holidays. If your lesson happens to fall on a major holiday, you will not be charged for the lesson and you do not need to request a make-up

Major holidays we are closed include Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday, Christmas Eve day through January 5th, New Year’s Day, 4th of July.

The idea behind our program is working on the kids’ level and starting with the basics and comfort, which is the essential building block to successful swimming. We start with the basics to get children comfortable and build from there. We believe that swimming should be a process and not event, it takes time and consistency to achieve the best results.

The results are in and when a child is consistently attending their weekly lesson we see a huge change in their comfort and skills! If you wish for your child to come twice a week we can accomodate for that as well!

Marlin’s Pre-Comp swimmers need to bring the following with them to every lesson:

• Swim cap (optional)
• Goggles
• Fins (optional)

We cannot say that one kid will learn to swim in any certain timeframe. It is our belief that after two months of consistent swimming you should be able to see an improvement in your child’s abilities. Every child can learn but they all learn differently and at their own pace. Swimming is a process and not an event, we recommend twice weekly lessons for optimum improvement.

Every swimmer MUST take a bracelet and they will drop it with their instructor when they get to class. Bracelet color is decided by lane assignment and we cannot switch colors. Children may NOT be left unattended before, during or after their lesson.
